Bible Fellowships...
In the context of a large attendance in worship services, it is especially important for adults to make friendship connections. Our Adult Bible Fellowships (ABFs) meet on Sunday mornings. The emphasis is on the fellowship or connecting aspect and the practical application of God’s Word.
The attendance of ABFs range from 5 or 6 to around 30 adults. Each group is led by a teacher and typically provides time for refreshments, conversation, prayer for one another and a lesson from the Bible.
Sundays 9:15 to 10:15 a.m.
FOCUS (Followers of Christ United in Service), Room 138
Mike Vannest and Dave Mantegna, facilitators
Dave and Mike are going to be focusing on contemporary issues of the day as they relate to how we live our daily lives. What does it mean to be a Christian in a post-Christian society? This class is mostly, but not only, comprised of people in their 30s and 40s. Mike writes: "The door is always open to anyone interested in what we're up to."
Inquiring Minds, Room 82
Eric Ware, facilitator
This is a new class open to those of any age. Tupper is a student at Northeastern Seminary and is a Conference Ministerial Candidate in the Free Methodist Church.
Reach Out through Love - Room 101
Julie Hunt & Scott Root, facilitators
Solomon's Colonnade - Parlor
Jessica Newcomb, facilitator
Largely comprised of thirty-somethings, this group will be looking at the "Max on Life" series, examining critical questions.
Son Seekers, Room 81
Jim Morton facilitator
This fall the Son Seekers are looking into what it really means to be a disciple of Jesus Christ and discover how God intended us to live life to its fullest. How in this world of busyness, tragedies, joys and challenges do we keep focused on the divine potential that was placed within us at our creation? Join us as we study together, socialize together, and support one another through prayer and encouragement.
Sundays 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.
Bible Explorers, Room 80
Bill Roushey, facilitator
The book of Ezekiel will be the focus of this class this fall. Abraham Joshua Heschel in his book The Prophets wrote, "The prophet is a man who feels fiercely." Ezekiel's passion is evident throughout the book that bears his name. This class will explore the prophet's relevance to Christians in today's world. The class also has adopted a class mission project to support the Clear Blue Water Project this fall by contributing spare change at their coffee station.
Bible Navigators, Room 141
BPaul & Teresa Ludington, facilitators
The book of Romans is the text for this class. John Stott, the famous Anglican pastor who recently passed away in London, once wrote that Romans "is the fullest, plainest and grandest statement of the gospel in the New Testament." This study will take the class into February of next year.
College Class, Room 82
Dr. Paul Stewart and Rob Hoose, facilitators
This class will begin the fall with a short series on "God Speaking and the Story of Our Scriptures." Join them to open the Scriptures and ask, "How is God inviting us to share in His Kingdom?" The class typically reads a book of the Bible and studies it inductively (read, question, meditate, and explore). Paul writes: "We have coffee available intravenously and the most amazing Sunday school snacks on the planet."
Gospel Ambassadors, Friendship Center
Miles Nelson, facilitator
The Old Testament book of Exodus is a vibrant book of history with an amazing range of activity, from plagues to sea walls to wilderness wanderings to fiery mountains and golden calves. The Gospel Ambassadors will examine Exodus for several weeks this fall, then move on to selected passages from Leviticus, Numbers, Joshua, and Deuteronomy to provide a valuable overview of the development of the nation of Israel.
Journey, Room 137
David Shewan, facilitator
This group is geared to post-college young adults and will begin the fall with a study based on the "Max on Life" curriculum.
