On My Shelf

I work on the Dangling each week in my study at home. I enjoy working there, surrounded by bookshelves filled with books. Books inspire me! On our recent trip to Washington, Mary bought me a t-shirt at the Library of Congress with the line: “I cannot live without books.”

On one of the nearby shelves are several Bibles, each of them quite special to me. One is an illustrated New Testament Stories: Retold for Children. It is the first Bible I ever received, given to me and my two sisters by Rev. Kerby, pastor of our church in 1958. There is also the small New Testament and Psalms that was given to my dad when he entered the army and was sent to the Philippines in World War II. Next to it, is the Bible my Grandma Logan used the final years of her life. Its pages are filled with margin notes, underlined verses, and crocheted book marks. The New Testament presented to me by my third and fourth grade Sunday school teacher, lavishly illustrated with photos and maps of the Holy Land, is there too. Each Bible has a wonderful story associated with it.

But, the best thing about those Bibles on my shelf is the Story that they contain. Each tell the Grand Story of a God who loves each of us so deeply that He will do whatever is necessary to restore us and make us whole.

This coming Sunday, the first graders and high school graduates from our Pearce family will be presented with Bibles in the worship service at 10:00 a.m. I hope those copies of God’s Word become treasured possessions to each one of them, read and poured over until God’s Story is the most familiar story of all.

I suppose I could live without my library, but there is one book I don’t want to live without.

Picnic with Pearce

Join your Pearce family for a picnic this coming Sunday, June 16, following the 10:00 a.m. worship service. Jim Heeks, Pearce’s Director of Food Service, and his team will provide an abundance of summer picnic foods that your entire family will enjoy. (And, perhaps they’ll top it all off with ice cream!)

There is no need to make reservations for this picnic, nor are there tickets to purchase. Donations will be accepted to help defray the cost of the meal, but everyone is welcome to join us.

The meal will be served in the Family Life Center, however, you are welcome to take your plate to the east lawn of Roberts Hall. (Don’t forget your camp chair or blanket!) Those who choose to eat outside will enjoy “picnic music” provided by a jazz band. The band will be playing between 11:30ish and 12:30.

A Life in the Word

As part of this Sunday’s special morning celebrating the gift of God’s Word, Rev. Jack Logan will talk about his lifelong passion for the Scriptures. Rev. Logan pastored for many years in churches in Pennsylvania, Florida, and New York. Now retired, his heart for the Bible has not diminished with age.

I will be interviewing Rev. Logan at approximately 12:30 p.m., on the east lawn of Roberts Hall, just across the driveway from Pearce’s educational wing. Bring along a camp chair or a lawn blanket to make yourself comfortable.

Shining Star

This past Tuesday morning, a very special thing happened at Pearce. Nancy Drew, our receptionist, was on duty as usual: greeting each of the children entering the church to attend Pearce 4 Kids.

One of the children, eight-year-old Star, entered the church with a big bin of food. It turns out that Star recently had a party with her friends to celebrate her birthday. However, instead of her friends bringing presents for Star, she specified on her invitations that guests were to bring in something to help stock the food cupboard at Pearce.

While relating the story, Nancy said: “It was the sweetest thing, this little girl thinking of others. Didn’t want anything for herself, but wanted to care for others. It was so precious!”

We Financed Our Loan Where?

This past weekend, we received $1,149 toward our Stewardship with a Goal or SWAG emphasis. We are presently working on the fourth project on our list: sending another $10,000 payment on the principal of our loan. (This is the second such payment in 2013.) To date, we have received a total of $51,711.44 towards the SWAG projects.

In conversations about our debt, people have asked for more details. One question is: “Where did we borrow the funds for the construction of the 2001 addition to our facility?” Here’s the answer to that question. (Just in case you were wondering, too!) The mortgage for the Family Life Center addition is held by the Free Methodist Foundation (FMF).

The FMF is an independent affiliate of the Free Methodist Church of North America (FMC-NA), established in 1987 and currently based in Spring, Arbor, Michigan. It has several divisions which provide opportunities for members to deposit savings, invest for retirement, and receive estate planning assistance. Free Methodist Churches can borrow funds from FMF to acquire, construct, or improve facilities for various ministries.

Members at Pearce, and other FM churches across the U.S., avail themselves of the services of the FMF. Here are a few of the reasons they have chosen to do so:

to provide funds that churches can borrow for construction projects (130 current loans)

to earn interest on savings accounts and CDs that is considerably greater than banks and credit unions are paying (currently about 1,700 individuals earning 1.35% for savings and up to 3.25% on CDs)

to receive assistance in estate planning, in order to insure assets go to those individuals and FMC-NA organizations that they wish to endow

Until his retirement last year, Ron Sittig, a Pearce member, served as the regional representative for the FMF for more than a decade. Those wanting additional information may contact Ron’s successor, Rev. Steven Macaluso at smacaluso@fmfoundation.org or 1.800.325.8975.

A Sweetness at Pearce

Recently, the staff at Pearce was treated to a rather fascinating sight. A swarm of honey bees, estimated at 30,000, was removed from our church’s courtyard by a local beekeeper. Evidently, Pearce is a sweet spot for bees, as we have experienced a reoccurring problem with the insects making a home in our courtyard. This week, an additional swarm of bees, one that had infiltrated the eves of our sanctuary, was removed. I thought you’d want to hear the buzz about this! (Sorry about that one. I simply wanted you to get the point. Again, I’m sorry!)

Pearce Incognito!

I was busted last Monday afternoon. On our last day of vacation, Mary and I went to our local Home Depot to pick up some items. In the parking lot, we ran into David Barnes, a long-time member of Pearce. “Didn’t I see you in the balcony at the 10:30 a.m. service on Sunday?” So I confessed and acknowledged that Mary and I did indeed saunter into the balcony for worship.

On past vacations, I have usually wanted to go somewhere else for worship. Part of it is because I want to see what other churches are like; part of it is because I enjoy the anonymity.

But this past Sunday, I told Mary I wanted to be at Pearce. I was interested in hearing how Dr. Jeff Altman tackled his sermon assignment. (I thought he did a very fine job!) I also wanted to see what it is like to worship in the sanctuary balcony. (I enjoyed it thoroughly!)

It felt good to be at Pearce on Sunday, even though I wasn’t “on duty!” But next time I’ll try a disguise!

Bringing this Conversation to a Close

This coming weekend, I’ll conclude our series entitled “Corner Conversations” by examining a really tough question. It goes something like this: “Can a Loving God Send People to Hell?” How would you answer this question?

Mission Completed!

Remember the great response to this past April’s Annual Mission Garage Sale? The funds raised at that event were recently distributed. I thought you might enjoy hearing how they were allocated. $8,000 was given to Hope Africa University, $6,000 was sent to the Charles Finney School to provide scholarships for inner city students (Opportunity Knocks!), and $4,000 was presented to the Aurora House.

Pearce received a note from Shelia Roman, Director of Advancement, at the Finney School. Here’s what she wrote:

Thank you so much! This is an awesome donation and we have a number of students who will benefit greatly from your generosity and hard work. Finney is blessed to have donors who recognize the importance of providing students from the Rochester City School District with a Christian education. These students, who often times struggle with a variety of challenges, work hard while at school and are clearly impacted by the movement of the Holy Spirit within the classrooms and hallways. Finney students who come from RCSD participate in extra-curricular activities, develop friendships that cross the cultural, social, and economic boundaries, and most importantly they hear the message of hope on a daily basis. From a personal standpoint, I am moved to tears when I think about where these students could be if they did not attend Finney. Many students become very anxious this time of year when they realize that they will not have Finney’s stable environment for three months. I kindly ask that you pray for these students’ spiritual, emotional, mental and physical safety over the summer. We want them all to return safely and ready to learn in September!

Once again, thank you for “Opportunity Knocks!” This is a huge blessing for the RCSD students we serve.

Swagnificent!

You are doing great this year, in helping us tackle some projects that were not included in our operational budget this year at Pearce. Many of you have been supportive of our SWAG (Stewardship with a Goal) emphasis.

To date, we have now received a total of $50,562.44. What have these funds accomplished? First, we were able to have the asbestos in our boiler room abated, a $25,000 project. (This project was completed this week!) Then we were able to make a $10,000 payment on the principal of our loan on the 2001 addition to our building. We have set aside $10,000 for work on Orchard Street parking and sidewalk improvements. (The work on this project will be tackled later this summer.) Now we are working to make a second $10,000 payment on our loan’s principal. We are more than half of the way to funding this fourth project on our list of twelve. Another $4,437.56, and we will be able to send a payment that will save us nearly $26,000 in interest costs over the life of the loan! Thanks for being so swagnificent!

Summer Slumps?

If you talk with a Pearce Finance Committee member this time of the year, you will probably hear a mixed message.

First, you’ll hear comments about the generosity of the Pearce family. They’ll highlight that contributions for the first five months of 2013 have been excellent. For example, Pearce has received a total of $482,937 for our operating budget. (That is $14,580 above budget so far this year!) Giving for our debt retirement and missions are nearly right on target. In addition, over $50,00 has been given toward our SWAG emphasis. A very generous church, indeed!

Then they will probably say, “But summer is coming and that means a slump in giving.” The pattern of past years has been to enter a summer slump when it comes to giving. “What difficulties does the summer slump create?” you may ask. Well, there are several. Pearce continues to pay its bills, but discretionary spending is reduced to a minimum. We often have to dip into reserves for payroll and other required expenditures. It is difficult to plan for fall ministries and we always wonder if those “losses” will be recovered in the fall.

In light of these concerns, consider this challenge: continue your regular giving even when you are away this summer. You can use snail mail or electronic means to make your contributions. (It is really quite easy!)

Thanks for your generosity, and thanks for helping us avoid the summer slump!

This Is Not a Dangling!

Do you remember last week’s Dangling when I informed you that I would be on vacation this week and, as a result, there would be no Dangling? Can I clarify? This isn’t a Dangling—or at least not a full-fledged, bonified, authentic Dangling. Think of this as a “Dangling Light,” or a “Dangling Reminder,” or simply as an email.

Before heading out of town, I realized there were two items that needed to be brought to your attention. Here they are, listed below. But remember, this is not a Dangling!

Bring Your Favorite Bible

June 16 will be an important day at Pearce. On that Sunday morning, the first graders at Pearce will receive a Bible. This is a long-standing tradition at our church and, I feel, a significant rite of passage. We are entrusting the Word of God to the next generation!

In that same 10:00 a.m. worship service, the graduating high school seniors will also be presented with Bibles, marking this new stage in their life and in their walk with Christ.

As part of our preparation for June 16, we will be filming a video on June 2. You are encouraged to bring a special Bible with you to church. Perhaps you’ll bring the Bible you received here at Pearce when you were a first grader. Or, maybe you’ll carry the Bible given to you by your parents or grandparents. Simply select a special Bible that you own and bring it to Pearce. We’ll have a room set up for filming in the education wing of the church. You won’t have to say a word, just stand in front of the camera holding your Bible. I think it will be a special part of our worship that weekend, to see the members of our church family holding their copies of the scriptures. I hope you’ll participate!

Family Picnic

Following our special 10:00 a.m. worship service on June 16, the entire Pearce family is invited to gather for a picnic to welcome the summer season at our church. Picnic foods will be on the menu, including ice cream to cool down the hot afternoon temperatures. The meal will be served immediately following the worship service. No RSVP is needed for this picnic; just come as you are and bring along your entire family.

Four years ago, the freshmen in this picture were kidnapped by the seniors at 6:30 a.m. and brought to my house for breakfast. This tradition has carried on in the years since and will take place again this September. What makes this picture special is that the freshmen in it will be graduating this year. It will be our largest group of seniors to date, with 19 graduating. We will be celebrating this milestone with these folks, their families, and their friends: Thursday night June 13 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Churchville Park. The cost is free to the seniors and $5 for anyone else. We will having a picnic, lawn games, and a slide show to honor them. RSVP to me at Kuhlkin_michael@pearcechurch.org if you plan to attend.

15th Annual Mission Golf Tournament

Just a reminder that we are hosting the 15th annual Mission Golf Tournament this year at Salmon Creek, on June 29. We will tee off at 8:00 a.m. with a buffet meal following. The funds raised from this year’s tournament will go to next summer’s Romania mission trip. If you would like to play, the cost is $75. Register online here. If you have questions or would like to be a hole sponsor, contact me at Kuhlkin_michael@pearcechurch.org

TNT

Each summer, our teen ministry shifts gears and goes to a more lighthearted format. This allows us to deepen our relationships with kids and to meet their friends. It also makes it easier for Pearce kids to invite new folks. This year is no exception; with pool parties, an evening at the drive-in, go-carting, and a night at Seabreeze on the schedule, it should be a fun summer! We meet from 6:30-8:00 p.m., with exceptions for various events. So, if you’re going into 7th grade up through 12th, grab a soda, bring your swim suit, take off your watch, and relax with us this summer.

The Question for this Weekend When talking with people outside of the Christian faith, it isn’t unusual for them to...

The Question for this Weekend

When talking with people outside of the Christian faith, it isn’t unusual for them to raise a question about churches, one that highlights the many faults and failures of congregations. The question may go like this: “Hasn’t the Church done so much harm?” That question is the focus of this weekend’s message in our series “Corner Conversations.” I hope you’ll join us!

Hanging Out on Pearce’s Corner

I snapped this photo on Monday afternoon as I was walking out of the church to head to an appointment. Seated in the patio furniture outside of Common Grounds were several P4K staff members, awaiting the arrival of kids for the after-school program. I took a few moments to sit and talk with them, getting into a discussion of the pop singer Beyoncé and her interest in the Illuminati. Wow! You never know which direction the conversation will turn sometimes, do you?

Summer Worship

I assume by now you have heard of our plans to hold a single worship service on Sundays throughout the summer. Tim Lambert, Director of Music and Worship Arts, and I have been meeting to discuss the format of the service that well be held at 10:00 a.m., beginning on June 16 and extending through September 8.

I’m excited by what is emerging. For example, this service will include more scripture readings than we’ve usually had on Sunday mornings. As you know, we’ve emphasized over the past year “knowing, telling, and living God’s Story.” We feel including more readings from God’s Word may help us to better understand and appreciate His Story.

Throughout the summer, we will continue to hold a 5:00 p.m. worship service on Saturday evenings.

Left Dangling Next Week

I am going to leave our conversation next week, as I take some time off with Mary. We are heading out for a week to enjoy time together and celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary. (I thought you might enjoy seeing a photo from that special day in 1978.)

Dr. Altman Keeps the Conversation Going

Dr. Jeff Altman will be ably filling the Pearce pulpit the first weekend of June. He’ll continue our series “Corner Conversations” by tackling the question, “Hasn’t Science Disproved Christianity?” Jeff is a gifted communicator, as some of you discovered when you heard his heart-felt homily at this year’s Good Friday service.

Jeff is a graduate of RWC and Asbury Theological Seminary. He has pastored in Canada and the United States, but spent the majority of his career as a Professor of Psychology at Roberts. Jeff served as one of Pearce’s associate pastors in the late 1980s.

I’m sure you will appreciate and benefit from his ministry.

The Impact of a Little SWAG

Pearce Administrator Honna Lusk and Bob Antes, Facilities Director, took a moment to highlight the notice for the asbestos abatement currently underway in a boiler room in the church’s basement. The abatement, a $25,000 project, began this past Monday and will continue for the next week or two. This important project was fully funded by the generous support of Pearce’s SWAG (Stewardship with a Goal).

Currently, we have received a total of $47,111 towards the ten projects on the 2013 SWAG list, fully funding the first three projects. We are currently seeking funding for the fourth project: a second $10,000 principal payment on the loan Pearce took out to finance the 2001 addition to our facility. Let’s finish up this fourth project this weekend!

You Can Transform a Life

Their names are Fionah, John, Emmy, David, and Patience: young children, whose lives took a turn for the better this past January when they were enrolled in a new school in northern Rwanda. In their small village of Gakiri, Compassion International partnered with a Christ-centered church to begin a holistic child development program. I had the privilege of visiting the Gakiri Student Center three months ago to see, first-hand, the great work this school is accomplishing.

I have packets for several children who need sponsors. If you are interested, contact me via email at fleming_wally@pearcechurch.org.

Update on Hope Africa University

During worship services on one of the weekends in April, Drs. Wayne and Darlene McCown briefly highlighted the ministry of Hope Africa University, a rapidly growing campus in Burundi. During their presentation, Wayne asked for prayer during a time of leadership transition at the school. Bishop Elie Buconyori, the founder and Rector of Hope Africa, died suddenly on Easter Sunday, March 31, 2013. Wayne asked that we join together in asking God to provide strong leadership for the university.

It was recently announced that, as the search for Bishop Buconyori’s successor continues, Dr. Gerald Bates will serve as the school’s leader during the interim.

The McCowns will be updating the Pearce family on the school, its ministry, and its future, at a special gathering on Sunday, June 2, at 6:00 p.m. in Parmerter Chapel. Find out more about this evening, geared for the entire family, at Pearce’s website: www.pearcechurch.org.

Speaking of Africa, don’t forget that Pastors John Tassone and Mike Kuhlkin, along with their daughters, head out today (Thursday, May 23) for a trip to Senegal where they will be ministering to the village that the Tassone family “adopted” several years ago.

Another Delightful Semester! As the lead pastor at Pearce, I enjoy many privileges. I get to stop in the church...

Another Delightful Semester!

As the lead pastor at Pearce, I enjoy many privileges. I get to stop in the church kitchen each morning to enjoy a cup of coffee with Jim Heeks, I receive an impressive number of hugs from children on Sunday mornings, and I have the opportunity to teach a course at Northeastern Seminary. The course is Pastoral Formation and its focus is on the role of the pastor as shepherd. This past Monday evening was the final class of the semester and I took the opportunity to take a photo of the group. They look like a great group, don’t they? I assure you, they are!

Ouch!

Each week, I email a copy of my sermon to my email account at Pearce. It serves as a backup for me to the manuscript on my home computer. I don’t write anything in the email, I simply attach the Word file to the email and send it off.

I had to chuckle this week when I glanced at my email on my iPhone. There, among my emails, was the email to myself with last weekend’s sermon attached. Under that particular listing were these words: “This message has no content.” Ouch! I think I better work harder this week!

Speaking of this weekend’s message, I’ll be addressing a tough question often raised by skeptics of the Christian faith: “If there is a God, why is there so much suffering in the world?” I hope you’ll join us as we wrestle with this.

What Is Going On?

If you drive by Pearce this coming Tuesday, you may notice a large Gatti Plumbing truck on the east side of our facility. And you may wonder, “What is going on?” (But most of you wonder that every week, don’t you?)

Just to let you know what’s taking place, here’s the scoop: a tree root intruded on an underground drain, near the entranceway to the classrooms. This past weekend, the old kitchen downstairs near the Fellowship Hall, was flooded. (Don’t worry, there wasn’t any permanent damage.) But the flooding alerted us to the issue and, as a result, there will be excavators engaged in some serious digging, as the pipe is approximately 20 feet below ground. Hopefully, the repair will only take a day or two.

So, honk as you drive by, to express your support to Gatti Plumbing as they help us out!

More than a Garage Sale

It’s been three weeks since Pearce’s Annual Mission Garage Sale, the most successful in the sale’s ten year history. Let’s pause one more time to celebrate the impact of this event.

Hundreds of Pearce families have relieved themselves of “treasures” that are no longer needed and appreciated.

Anyone who donated goods can take a tax deduction on Schedule A of your 2013 tax return.

Members of the Pearce community have acquired many “just what I’ve been looking for” items.

A huge collection of dedicated volunteers left with a satisfied feeling for completing an exhausting job with outstanding results.

Over $18,000 is going to fund three projects:

Aurora House—a hospice facility located just south of Spencerport

Hope Africa University—a Christian liberal arts university located in Bujumbura, Burundi

Charles Finney High School—a scholarship for an inner-city student

It’s not too early to start preparations for next year! So, clear a space on that shelf in the basement and begin laying aside your donations for next year. And, thanks again, for helping Pearce impact the world!

Project #4

Of the ten projects addressed by Pearce’s SWAG (Stewardship with a Goal) emphasis, three have now been fully funded as the result of your generosity. To date we have received a total of $45,970. Three projects down, seven more to go in 2013.

Project #4 is making a second $10,000 payment on the principal of the loan Pearce took out to finance the building of the atrium, Family Life Center, and educational wing. We have already made one $10,000 payment on the principal, resulting in an estimated savings of $26,000 over the duration of the loan.

If you haven’t participated in SWAG, I encourage you to join with the many others who are helping us learn how to better free our resources to support our church’s ministry.

A High Moment

Baptism is one of the high moments in the life of a Christian community. Through baptism, individuals publicly declare their commitment to follow Jesus the rest of their life. I never cease to be thrilled when I hear someone’s testimony and then witness their baptism in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit!

This coming Sunday, in Pearce’s 10:30 a.m. worship service, five young people will witness to their faith in Christ by being baptized. Those individuals are: Cole Favro, Andrew Vannest, Haley Smout, Elisa Everett, and Emma Draper. These young people will also be welcomed into youth membership at Pearce, along with Ian Lukowski and Trent Repass. (Both Ian and Trent have already received Christian baptism.)

I invite you to be present for this significant moment in these young men and women’s lives.

Lazy, Hazy Days

Summer is rapidly approaching. Before long, we’ll be savoring long days, backyard barbecues, and road trips. At Pearce, we’ll also experience a different Sunday worship schedule, beginning June 16. Although our Saturday worship will continue at its regular time of 5:00 p.m., on Sundays, we’ll be offering a single worship service at 10:00 a.m.

You may be wondering what this “unified” worship service will be like. Well, we’re working on developing a worship format that will be Christ-centered and meaningful for all who attend. Tim Lambert and I are meeting with Dr. Dan Barta and Rev. Jonathan Bratt to prayerfully brainstorm the format. We invited Dr. Barta and Rev. Bratt to help us out, as they have interest and expertise in this area. And four minds are better than two!

I’ll keep you posted on this service as June 16 draws near.

A Garage Sale to End All Garage Sales!

In case you weren’t in worship services at Pearce last weekend, permit me to update you on the results of this year’s Mission Garage Sale. We raised a total of $18,234.87 over the two-day sale! This is by far the highest amount raised over the Mission Garage Sale’s ten-year-history. The previous high was $14,223.34 from the 2008 sale.

Evidently, this year’s sale was the sale to end all garage sales. But this, of course, doesn’t mean we won’t have a sale next year. We plan to keep this annual event going, as it is significantly funding ministries around the globe. Over the past ten years, a total of $121,228.18 has been raised. So start setting aside items for next April.

Family Mission Night

A few weeks ago, Wayne and Darlene McCown told of their involvement at Hope Africa University, a rapidly growing Christian school in Burundi, Africa. Their brief presentation in the worship services left me wanting to know more. I’ll have a chance to hear more about Hope Africa at a “Family Mission Night” at Pearce on Sunday, June 2, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. in Parmerter. This is planned as a family-friendly event, geared for all ages. Come and hear more about one of the ministries that significantly benefited from our recent Mission Garage Sale.

The Numbers Are Looking Good!

In a recent conversation, Terry Taber remarked, “Pearce is a very generous church.” I agree! As we enter May, members of our congregation’s Finance Committee see many positive signs when examining our church’s financial situation. So, permit me to share some encouraging numbers:

Contributions to the Operating Budget after 17 weeks are nearly $6,000 above budget. This has greater significance when one recalls that the 2013 Budget is 2% higher than that of 2012.

Contributions to Debt Retirement (mortgage) and Missions are virtually on budget; Debt Retirement is slightly above (+$500) and Missions slightly below (-$600).

These numbers represent balanced giving to all parts of Pearce’s programs. This is a trend that is truly appreciated by the staff.

Pearce staff members have effectively maintained expenses slightly below budget. This has resulted in a minor operating surplus, which is helpful as we enter the summer months.

Responding in overwhelming fashion, the Pearce congregation has given generously to SWAG, allowing the first two projects to be fully funded. SWAG giving now totals $44,787. This means we are less than $300 away from fully funding the third project!

Thanks for being such a generous community of faith!

May 9, 2013

Some exciting events are coming soon in the life of the children’s ministry at Pearce. One event is our Youth Membership/Baptism Sunday. I just finished interviews with the 5th and 6th graders who are joining the church in youth membership and/or being baptized. It is such an honor to hear stories of their love for God, what they are learning and how they have come to know Jesus in a personal way. Below are some of the words they have expressed to me of their walk with Jesus in preparation for May 12, 2013.

“I fully and truthfully believe in Christ.”

“I know I am a Christian because I have asked Jesus into my heart.”

“I know that God sent His son to earth, to work wonders and die to give us a pathway to heaven.”

“I asked Jesus into my heart and want to follow His Word.”

“God has worked in my life by giving me a chance to let a friend learn who Christ is and bring her to Christ.”

“I asked Jesus into my heart at VBS.”

A second event in the life of children’s ministry at Pearce is VBS 2013. We have been preparing since January. The west wing of Parmeter is filling up with supplies for the week-long event. It is exciting to think what God has in store this June for all those involved; kids as well as volunteers! We would love to have you join the team. We are in need of lots of crew leaders. You can talk to me (Pastor Kathy) or Julie Bailey about how you can best serve. There are volunteer forms at the display desk in the foyer. Come sign up and be a part of kids learning that trusting God helps us stand strong!

A special thanks to all of you who work and pray for the kid’s ministry at Pearce. Your impact is an eternal one!

Blessings!

Pastor Kathy
