Classic Service – Sunday mornings at 9:00am in Pearce’s Sanctuary

What should I expect?

Grounded, historical, passionate, Wesleyan, foundational, tradition-filled, timeless; these are adjectives that describe our Classic service at Pearce. We meet in Pearce’s beautiful sanctuary every Sunday morning at 9:oo a.m. If you’re looking for a vibrant, hymn-singing congregation, this is the service for you.

What is the music like?

Choir, organ, trumpets, flutes, piano; this is a sampling of instruments and voices that are used in our Classic services. We sing hymns and choruses that have stood the test of time. A sampling of songs includes Charles Wesley hymns like “O for a Thousand Tongues to Sing”, Fanny Crosby hymns like “To God Be the Glory”, and William Gaither choruses like “Because He Lives.” Also notable, our Sanctuary Choir sings weekly anthems that range from hymn arrangements to classical masterpieces like Johannes Brahms’ “How Lovely is Thy Dwelling-Place” from the Requiem.

Tell me more…

It’s a community that has strong roots. For instance, some people who attend this service choose to wear their “Sunday-best” out of respect for a steadfast faith and an un-changing God. Other people show this respect in different ways like kneeling at the prayer rail, singing with gusto, or standing as the Holy Scriptures are read. The service ends at about 10:00 a.m. and at that time our coffee shop is open for people who would like to stick around. We also offer a variety of Adult Bible Fellowships (ABFs) that meet following the end of the service. Feel free to join us this Sunday morning at 9:00 a.m.
