Contemplative Service – Saturday evenings at 5:00 p.m. in Parmerter Chapel
What should I expect?
Informal, thoughtful, fresh, scripture-filled, casual, prayerful, unplugged; these are adjectives that describe our Contemplative service at Pearce. We meet in Parmerter Chapel which is a smaller and more intimate meeting place than our main sanctuary. If you’re looking for a reflective atmosphere in the midst of a caring community of coffee-drinkers, this is the service for you.
What is the music like?
Acoustic guitar, violin, djembe, piano; this is a sampling of instruments that are used in our Contemplative services. There is a mix of old and new songs all with a fresh, acoustic flavor. Also notable, the seating is set up in semi-circle and the musicians are part of the community, rather than on a raised platform.
Tell me more…
It’s a very relaxed atmosphere. You can bring a cup of coffee into the chapel, you can participate however you choose, and you’ll notice immediately that most people are wearing jeans – even the pastor. This service is for singles and college students just as much as it is for families and retirees. The service ends no later than 6:00pm and at that time we open up our coffee shop for people who would like to stick around and talk. Many times you will find a group going out to dinner together afterward. Feel free to join us this Saturday.
Note: As this worshiping community grows, we may look into providing child-care and programming to coincide with the Contemplative service. However, we do not offer child-care at this time.
