February 5, 2013
We are just into the year 2013 and I already have some highlights to share! Several weeks back, one of the kids came up to me after Kids’ Worship. His mom said her son had something to tell me. They shared that he had prayed with his mom to ask Jesus into his heart the previous night. Since then, he comes to me quite regularly, asking what scripture he can read this week. I am thankful to the Lord for this young man’s decision to follow Jesus.
Another highlight is that Julie Bailey, Elissa Finger, and I have begun to meet for VBS 2013 preparations. We are excited about this year’s theme and the lessons the kids will be learning. VBS 2013 is called “Kingdom Rock” where, and I quote, “kids enter the epic adventure that empowers them to stand strong. Here, God’s victorious power isn’t a fairy tale—it changes kids forever.” Please be in prayer as to how you can get involved! Feel free to contact any one of us on the leadership team, and we will help you find your VBS niche!
Parents of 5th and 6th graders, it is time to begin talking with your kids about baptism and youth membership. Sunday, May 12, is the day we have set aside for this year’s special service. I would ask you to begin talking with your young person about this day; find out if they are ready to make the decision to be baptized and/or join the church in youth membership. Two teaching days are really important for them to be a part of, in preparation for May 12. On Wednesday night, March 20, Pastor Wally will teach on Baptism and Communion. Rev. Kathryn Martin will be teaching the 5th and 6th graders about Free Methodist History on Sunday, April 14 (during Sunday school). During the month of April, every young person who desires to be baptized and/or join the church will be personally interviewed by a pastor and one of their leaders.
This year already has highlights where there is strong evidence that God is at work in our kids’ lives here at Pearce. More highlights to come next month!
Thank you for praying for our kids!
