VBS 2016, “Cave Quest: Following Jesus The Light of the World”
Between the kids and our volunteer helpers, we had a full church the week of VBS! Many children made first time commitments to Jesus, as well as those who said they would continue to be committed to following Jesus. Some of the many highlights were our mission moments, given by Sue Smout. The kids raised $1,500 to help build a classroom in Nzige, Rwanda. Sue, along with three other women from our church, just returned home from a misson trip to Nzige. In September, they will be sharing what God is doing in the pre-school there. I am thankful to the Lord that VBS was a week where members of our community came together as the body of Christ, for the purpose of seeing the lives of children impacted for Jesus—not only here in our community, but half way around the world in Nzige, too! A big thank you goes to all who helped! There was no small task—everyone worked together to help this amazing program come together. Save the date for VBS 2017 here at Pearce: June 26-29.

Women’s Retreat: “Awaken My Soul”
A women’s retreat took place in August at Lighthouse Christian Camp. Twenty-six ladies braved the high humidity, and we all had a great time. Colleen Dick started off the day with a wonderful reflection/teaching on “Awaken My Soul.” Gina Spears spoke in the afternoon, giving a challenge to the women. In between, the ladies were able to spend time with God in reflection, journaling, in fellowship, eating lunch, and enjoying a group walk. Our day ended with Colleen giving opportunities for the ladies to share what they were taking away from the day.
The next big women’s event will be our Fall Brunch. Janet Bratt will be the guest speaker that day. Save the date: Saturday, November 5, at 10am.
What Is Ahead
Children’s Sunday School for the 2016-2017 school year will begin on September 18, but all of my teacher positions are not filled! I still need co-teachers/helpers for several grades. Teaching in a Sunday school class setting is a great way to impact kids’ lives on a weekly basis. Please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org if you are able to help or would like to learn more.
Wednesday night programs for kids begin on September 14, from 6:30-8pm. These programs provide an opportunity to build relationships with children, while having fun and learning in Christian community. Please contact me if you are interested in serving in our Wednesday night ministries.
Please be praying as together we move into a new year of ministry!
