“There is enough time in every day to do all of God’s will!”
I was attending a conference. This is the only thing I remember the speaker saying. I don’t even remember who the speaker was. But these words I have never forgotten.
When I first heard them, I felt anger. “This man doesn’t understand what life in the real world is like! He probably has the perfect family, with the perfect home, with the perfect job—after all, he’s standing in front of all of us as if he doesn’t have a care in the world. He must be clueless about what life is like for the rest of us.”
I thought about my “internal to do list.” You know…we wake up in the morning already thinking about all that needs to be done that day. And we reach the end of each day realizing there is far more to do than we have yet accomplished. “There is enough time in every day to do all of God’s will!” This is crazy, or so I thought.
But then the Spirit of our God of unfailing love began to speak. And continued to speak. I was drawn to 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, “Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus. (NLT)”
Ohhh…this is God’s daily will for my life. “Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances…” I began to set aside my anger and my agenda and make this my focus. “Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances…,” and then I saw in the next verse that this is one of the ways that we do not put out the Spirit’s fire in our lives
And so my friends, I humbly say to you all, “There is enough time in every day to do all of God’s will!”
“Father God of unfailing love, on the way today and every day, fill our hearts with Your Presence that we will find time in every day to do all of Your will. Amen.”
