In the Name of Love! As many of you now realize, this is our summer sermon series. This month, we unpack words of love and hope to better know and understand God’s heart of love. And then, in August, we unpack words of love and hope to better know and understand how we are to live out God’s heart of love on the westside of Rochester and beyond.
This church has a history of responding generously to the needs of others. In crisis, we rise to the occasion. There are many examples of how we have lived out, and are living out, God’s heart of love. Yet the needs abound all around us.
I find myself asking three questions: What can I do? What can we do? What is God doing? And then, as I reflect prayerfully on these three questions, I begin to reverse the order. I wonder if the first question should be What is God doing? Where is God at work? What is God blessing?
And from there, the other two questions may begin to come into clearer focus. What is God doing? Where is God at work? What is God blessing? Perhaps the answer to those questions also provides the answer to What can I do? and What can we do?
Please pray with us as our pastoral team, as well as our Great Commission Leadership Team, prayerfully and carefully seek God’s leading. We embraced a God-sized vision called Nzige—a vision God continues to bless! Pray that our God of unfailing love will also give us a God-sized vision for the westside of Rochester and beyond.
