Did you know that Rochester is the 5th poorest city in the United States, among the top 75 metropolitan areas? RAIHN, a not-for-profit organization, assists homeless families to achieve sustainable independence by supporting them with tailored services including shelter, food, and case management.
RAIHN works with 42 congregations in the Rochester community who host homeless families one week every quarter, or support the congregations that do host. Pearce volunteers support St. Luke & St. Simon Cyrene Episcopal Church (nicknamed “Two Saints”) downtown, on Fitzhugh Street, as they host families. Two Saints will be hosting the week of June 11, and we will offer support with meal preparation, evening hospitality to families, and overnight support. The primary skills required are a willingness to listen, love, suspend judgement, and extend grace! And training is provided.
