Pearce’s next opportunity to support the St. Luke/St. Cyrene (Two Saints) congregation in hosting Rochester Area Interfaith Hospitality Network (RAIHN) families will be December 2-9. If you’re interested in seeing what this ministry is all about and what it means to volunteer, contact Bev Faro. The next RAIHN volunteer training will be Tuesday, February 5, at New Hope Free Methodist Church. All volunteers must attend training to participate in RAIHN. If you have already attended training and would like to understand more about homelessness and poverty, mark your calendar to attend a RAIHN Second Level training on March 28 at 6:30pm at Artisan Church.
RAIHN will serve 40 families in the shelter program this year. They also provide case management and after-shelter support to families for one year after they “graduate” into housing, and at this time that includes over 30 families. If you are looking to invest some time and energy in an agency that is making a difference in the lives of families in Rochester, RAIHN offers many volunteer opportunities besides helping at Two Saints during a hosting week. Drivers are needed to transport families from the congregations to the Day Center on Webster Avenue in the morning and back to the congregations in the late afternoon (in the RAIHN 14 passenger van), or you could find a place to serve at the Day Center during the day.
