Uprooted and Displaced
This week, Mary and I said “farewell” to our nephew Devon. He recently graduated from Grove City College and, as I write this, is on his way with a car-load of worldly goods to begin his post-college life at a company in Washington, D.C. Talking with him on Monday, I sensed he felt a little uncomfortable and at loose ends heading to an unfamiliar place and an entirely new set of responsibilities, even though he was excited by this new stage of life!
Have you ever felt that way…a bit uprooted and displaced? Hang on to that feeling! (more…)
Did you know that each weekend, around 20 infants and young children are cared for in our nurseries? What a great ministry we are able to provide to families in our congregation and also to those who may be visiting with us. If you would like to be a part of our nursery caregivers team this summer, we’d love to hear from you. Do you have older children who love little ones? Consider volunteering with your whole family! Not only will you help fill a need, but serving together can be a wonderful way of teaching your own kids about supporting church ministries. To get involved, pick up a nursery volunteer sheet at the Welcome Kiosk in the atrium or contact Rita Dean at 352-7835 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Join Lydia Monroe, Kristen Coon, and Carol Stevenson for an update from their recent mission trip to Nzige, Rwanda. Through slides and stories, they will share their observations at the preschool and their plans for future training of Nzige teachers. Come to Room 134 (education wing) at 6:30pm on Wednesday, March 9.
December 24 – Christmas Eve Services: A beautiful holiday tradition in the Pearce Sanctuary, the 5 and 7pm services are candlelight services, featuring a chamber orchestra with brass and string instruments. (Child care through age 4 is provided during the 5pm service.) The 11pm service will be held in Parmerter Chapel. Holy Communion will be served, and all will join in a candlelight service to welcome Christmas Day.
December 27 – Sunday Worship Service at 10:30am. The Saturday evening service will meet as usual on December 26 at 5pm in Parmerter Chapel.
