Started in the spring of 2014, Neighborly Help is a branch of Pearce Men’s Ministry made up of teams of men who help widows, widowers, seniors, single parents, and others [mostly within our congregation] who find themselves in need because of “stage of life” situations. “Stage of life” situations can be due to things such as advancing age, deteriorating health or mobility, loss of income, or changing stages of raising a family. The focus of this ministry is to help this target group with home safety and maintenance issues, which provides a reduction of stress and risk in their lives. Warm new friendships have resulted with both the volunteers and the homeowners.
- As of August 2017, over 25 families have been helped–some needs are ongoing and some are temporary to help homeowners catch-up and maintain.
- As of August 2017, we have 15-20 men who are volunteering their time to those in need.
- Neighborly Help meets the second Saturday of each month at 9am, along with responding to emergencies as needed.
